Retail Buyers Learn About Wisconsin Dairy
During March, WMMB and cheese company partners will host Wisconsin tours for several retail buyer groups from Kansas City, Phoenix and Pittsburg, along with a specialty distributor from the Seattle market. These groups will visit cheese plants, participate in cheese education sessions, and tour a dairy farm to better understand our award-winning industry and discover for themselves "where it comes from matters."

Producers Promote Dairy During March WIAA
Wisconsin dairy producers will sponsor 66 30-second TV ads, some touting the recovery benefits of chocolate milk, and three new Dairy Impact ads highlighting dairy's importance to Wisconsin during statewide telecasts of high school boys' and girls' basketball tournaments being held in Madison March 18-20 and March 25-27, respectively. Look for got milk? messages on the Kohl Center scorer's table and chair backs, as well.

Booked Into Wisconsin

This episode of Discover Wisconsin – America's Dairyland, airing March 6-7, explores great books about our state's rich dairying and agricultural history, Wisconsin's Master Cheesemakers, and great recipes. Host Stephanie Klett steps into the kitchen to test a few recipes with a renowned chef, whose recipes feature – you guessed it – Wisconsin Cheese!

Fond du Lac Ag Showcase
Sample Wisconsin Cheese, sausage and beverages at the Fond du Lac Agriculture Showcase being held March 6 at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Recreation Building. Co-sponsored by WMMB, this event provides visitors a tasty opportunity to experience the vital role agriculture plays in our everyday lives and our economy.

Wis. Cheese Industry Exhibits at International Pizza Expo
WMMB is coordinating an exhibit with members of the Wisconsin cheese industry at the March 2-4 annual International Pizza Expo tradeshow. The industry will showcase its line of products, from basic commodity cheeses like part-skim Mozzarella all the way to specialized cheeses like Gran Queso, to the show's more than 5,000 pizza operator attendees.

SWCMA 8th Annual Young Dairy Producer Educational Scholarship
A $2,000 scholarship is again offered by the Southwestern Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (SWCMA) to encourage young dairy producers to continue in dairy and help maintain the milk supply to area cheese plants. Any student whose Wis.-based dairy markets milk to any SWCMA member plant [member list included on application form] is eligible to apply. Submission deadline is March 31, 2010.

Farming Through Difficult Times
The UW-Extension has launched "farming through difficult times" to help dairy producers and agriculture leaders find up-to-date information on dairy finances and to inform the agriculture community on topics such as future outlook, production recommendations and stress management.
